The Internal Security Forces has recovered a painting thought to be an original work by legendary artist Salvador Dali, and arrested suspects for theft and trafficking of antiquities.
The ISF's International Crimes Prevention Bureau seized “Portrait of Mrs. Reeves” on October 13 after investigations in the Cola area of Beirut and Dohat Aramoun in Metn.
The bureau reported the arrest of four suspects, who were allegedly trying to sell the painting. They were identified as Y.B., born in 1975, Syrian national M.Y., born in 1991, M.H., born in 1983 and Lebanese national M.A., born in 1982.
The painting, reportedly finished in 1954, had been stolen from a neighboring country and “is likely to be original and worth millions of dollars.”
Suspect Y.B. was reportedly also discovered to have another warrant out for his arrest
