NNA - A drug smuggling operation from India to Lebanon was foiled in Rafic Hariri International Airport and big amounts of "Tramadol" pills were confiscated, a communiqué issued by Interior Security Forces (ISF) - General Directorate - Public Relations department said.
The communiqué added on 29 August 2016 and upon intensive investigations, the Central Office for fighting drugs affiliated with the Judicial Police Unit and in coordination with the Airport Security apparatus, was able to foil the said smuggling operation of "Tramadol" pills (about one million fifty thousand), adding that the said pills were packed in a box and worth approximately USD 5 million and were intended to be smuggled to Syria.
Upon following up on the issue, ISF members were able to detain on 31 August 2016 at Beirut Down Town the two Lebanese M.A (born in 1992) and W.H (born in 1993) who were identified as engaged in the operation , the communiqué said, pointing out that a war pistol was found in the possession of the latter.
