Lebanese Customs apprehended 35 Syrians entering Lebanon illegally after chasing down the van transporting them.

An Interior Security Forces statement said that a van approaching the Dahr al-Baidar checkpoint Wednesday morning ignored an order to pull over.

The officer at the checkpoint pushed spikes under the van’s back tires, but the driver, 27-year-old Kh.J, kept going until he was stopped at the Nabeh al-Soha exit.

Kh.J attempted to drive again, taking a dirt road leading to Hammana, where he was stopped by a Lebanese Customs patrol.

Upon investigating, the authorities found out that Kh.J, who is of an unknown origin, was facilitating 35 Syrians’ illegal entry into Lebanon. The Syrians on board the van consisted of families, including children and babies, who were all arrested.
