On 07 May 16, at 1000hrs, an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) was found near the Ceramica Shops, on the Zahle – Baalbek main road. Army personnel immediately deployed to the scene and cordoned off the Zahle-Chtaura highway as they waited for a military expert to dismantle the device. The LAF managed to dismantle the IED and the Zahle – Baalbek road was reopened. The IED weighed approximately 4 kg and was mainly composed of highly explosive materials.
