Heavy fighting broke out in the southern refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh Tuesday after a tense night that saw violent clashes between rival groups as Palestinian factions tried in vain to reach a sustainable truce. The death toll climbed to two after an intense night that witnessed the use of heavy artillery, rocket fire and mortar shells, with seven people wounded in the fighting between the Fatah Movement and Jund al-Sham. Fatah Movement member Ali Othman was killed Tuesday in the fighting after a Palestinian security source identified the fighter, who was killed the day before, as Fatah officer Fadi Khodeir. Scores of people were forced to flee the camp as the Lebanese Army allowed only civilians and the wounded to leave.
