Three masked gunmen stormed at Hazmieh branch of Bank Audi Monday, fleeing with LL30,000,000 ($20,000), a security source told The Daily Star. The incident was the latest in a series of similar robberies involving banks in suburban Beirut. Security agencies are analyzing video footage of the heist, the source said. Despite apparent similarities between recent robberies, sources from the Internal Security Forces dismissed theories that a single criminal network is responsible for all of the incidents. Most banks in Lebanon generally are not equipped with security systems to prevent assailants from reaching the tellers.
