The National News Agency said that the assailant shot Khalil Q. and Talal A. in Qubb Elias in eastern Bekaa Valley.

The bodies of the two men were taken to nearby hospitals.

LBCI said that the assailant went to Khalil and Talal's coffee van and requested a cup of coffee before shooting them.

The NNA added that the gunman turned himself in to the State Security Directorate after Justice Minister Salim Jreissati intervened to press for his arrest.

The gunman was identified as M. Yammine.

The motive behind the incident remains unclear.

Al-Jadeed channel reported in its afternoon bulletin that Yammine had been drunk at the time of the incident. Three men were with him in the jeep at the time of the shooting.

Al-Jadeed also reported that Talal, 55, owns the coffee van and Khalil was his friend. Khalil was from the eastern village of Bwarej.

Yammine reportedly approached Talal and the two men exchanged insults, while Khalil attempted to calm the situation.

Tension escalated in Qubb Elias, however, the Lebanese Army intervened to prevent the situation from escalating.
