Lebanese General Security arrested in Saida a "dissident" Lebanese soldier who had defected from the Army and joined a militant group.

The suspect was identified as Mohammad Mahmoud Antar.

The Army said the soldier was wanted on criminal charges for defecting from the military to join Jabhat Fatah al-Sham – the extremist group formerly known as the Nusra Front.

Antar is also suspected of participating “in the events in Tripoli” – likely a reference to clashes between the Army and Islamist militants that began in the northern city in October 2014 – and of joining the Shadi Mawlawi group in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh, according to the statement.
This security incident was mapped according to the closest possible location.
