On 15 Aug 16, fishermen held a demonstration near the site of landfill under construction just outside Beirut to denounce its establishment located near the Burj Hammoud landfill. The fishermen said the establishment of the Burj Hammoud landfill was a conspiracy to displace local residents.They said that they would not back down until their demands were met, their protest was a peaceful one.
