September 29, 1985: In a particularly fierce round of fighting, at least 50 combatants died. Witnesses recounted that the hospitals were overwhelmed with wounded and dead; the Islamic Hospital wasn’t capable of taking in any more casualties. A security source said at least 70 civilians had been killed and 100 wounded.
