BEIRUT: The MTV channel accused employees of a hotel owned by rival station Al-Jadeed head, Tahseen Khayyat, of detaining its journalists Tuesday.
MTV claimed that security agents at the 1866 Hotel in Beirut’s Hamra district held two of its journalists without an explanation and under mysterious circumstances.
However, Al-Jadeed alleged in a tweet that a “team of MTV [journalists] broke into a hotel owned by Tahseen Khayat.” Al-Jadeed said that the two MTV journalists “impersonated” its photojournalists, prompting security to hold them for questioning.
MTV’s reporter later said that their vehicles could be easily identified, as they had the logos of the station on them.
