SIDON, Lebanon: Fears of a major confrontation in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh heightened Tuesday following the assassination of a senior Fatah Movement official in a car bomb near the camp. Brig. Gen. Fathi Zeidan, the Movement’s secretary in Sidon’s Mieh Mieh Camp, was killed in what was the first targeting of a Palestinian official outside a refugee camp in years.

The assassination was condemned by rival political groups of Sidon who warned against plots to destabilize Ain al-Hilweh and its environs.

Better known as “Zorro,” Zeidan was killed after a bomb placed in his BMW went off at the Al-Amercan Roundabout, close to the entrance of Ain al-Hilweh, his destination. http://www.dailystar.com.lb/News/Lebanon-News/2016/Apr-13/347117-ain-al-...
