Families of Lebanon inmates rally for general amnesty

The families of inmates rallied in the north and east Lebanon to press for a general amnesty.

Local media reported that the relatives of Islamist detainees in the northern city of Tripoli blocked the Abu Ali Roundabout during the protest.

The state-run National News Agency reported that Kfar Dnees residents in the eastern Bekaa Valley held a similar rally.

The NNA also said that the families of inmates in the southern city of Sidon rallied after Friday's Muslim prayer in Majdalyoun.

The relatives held banners demanding that President Michel Aoun, Speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Saad Hariri make an effort to release of the detainees.
