A warehouse of expired medicines was raided in Damour by Lebanese Customs, according to a statement from the Finance Ministry.
The people involved, who are not yet arrested, had been switching expired date stickers on the medicine box with labels marking newer dates. The medicines were confiscated and investigations are ongoing to find the suspects.
Expired products are sold at lower prices on the market. In early July, State Security launched a campaign to crack down on food warehouses storing illegal or spoiled goods. The raids were carried out after State Security found a surge in incidents of tampering with food products.
