Police arrested a 65-year-old man in north Lebanon for attempting to rape to minor girls at his shop, the Internal Security Forces announced.

ISF said that Tripoli police station received a phone call on Monday, informing them that two little girls, aged nine and ten, were found in a flower shop in Jabal al-Beddawi, adding that they might have been raped.

Upon arrival, police found the door to the store locked, as a number of residents were gathering outside.

Once the owner, identified as Aa.Gh., opened the door, they found the two girls, hidden behind flowers and boxes.

The two girls told police that they had been walking near the store when the owner emerged and asked them if they could help him clean his attic.

Once they entered the store, he locked the door and followed them to the attic, where he allegedly committed "indecent acts."

The suspect was arrested and the two girls were returned to their families.

The ISF urged victims, and especially their parents, to inform police about such incidents and not to keep it to themselves to decrease its occurrence.
