An Internal Security Forces unit was pelted with stones Tuesday during a car chase in the Bekaa Valley, a security source told The Daily Star.
A white Mercedes without license plates failed to stop at a police checkpoint in Zahle's industrial zone, prompting a police lieutenant, identified by the initials R.J., and another officer to chase it into Faour village, according to the source.
The police unit was met by stone-throwing residents when it entered the town.
The lieutenant was wounded and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Mercedes, who managed to flee with the help of the residents, is from the same town, the source said.
