Bekaa Valley Governor Antoine Sleiman ordered municipalities within his jurisdiction to prevent new refugee camps from being set up on their territories.
Sleiman said in a statement carried by the National News Agency that several municipalities were building encampments for Syrians in coordination with local and foreign NGOs, despite the fact that the Cabinet hasn't approved the establishment of Syrian refugee camps in Lebanon.
He demanded that municipalities "deny the establishment and transfer of Syrian refugee camps within their scope and to inform the governorate of any such projects or requests.”
