Demonstrations following the arrest of Sheikh Bassam Al-Tarras

On 11 Sep 16, Sheikh Bassam Al Atras was arrested over suspicions of involvement in a terrorist attack that occurred on August 31 in Ksara however, he was released shortly after. On 06 Oct 16, following the order of the Assistant of the Government's Commissioner at the Military Court, Prosecutor Hani Hajjar, Sheikh Bassam Al Tarras was re-arrested.

Following the arrest, on 07 Oct 16:

- At around 2107hrs, an ISF Intelligence Branch force stormed the house of Sheikh Bassam Al-Tarras and arrested his son Omeir for interrogation.

- At around 2112hrs, supporters of Sheikh Bassam Al-Tarras briefly blocked the road outside Dar al-Fatwa in Beirut

- At around 21:40hrs, supporters of Sheikh Bassam Al-Tarras briefly blocked the road outside Dar al-Fatwa in Barr Elias.

- At around 22;30hrs, supporters of Sheikh Bassam Al-Tarras briefly blocked the road outside Dar al-Fatwa in Saida.

- At around 22:40hrs, Omeir Tarras, the son of Sheikh Bassam Al-Tarras, was released.

- At around 23:55hrs, all the demonstrations ended and all the roads were cleared.
