Debbieh’s Saint Maroun Church was robbed Sunday, the state-run National News Agency reported.
A number of politicians and party representatives issued statements or tweeted condemning the incident in the town, which is located in Mount Lebanon’s Iqlim al-Kharroub area. MP George Adwan asked security forces to track down the suspects and refer them to the judiciary, “to punish them for assaulting a sacred place,” the NNA quoted him as saying. MP Mohammad Hajjar echoed Adwan’s request, and MP Bilal Abdullah described the incident as “an assault on coexistence.”
