Lebanese Customs stopped a boat at the Port of Tripoli that was carrying almost a ton of hash, a statement from the Directorate-General of Customs said Thursday evening.
A Turkish man was attempting to smuggle hash to Italy via the port aboard a ship with a Georgian license.
The boat was found to be loaded with 980 kilograms of hashish hidden in its base.
The Turkish man, who was not further identified, was arrested and referred, along with the hashish, to the Internal Security Forces’ Anti-Drug Bureau.
