أعلنت قيادة الجيش أنه "بتاريخ 13/12/2018 حوالى الساعة 21.40 وأثناء مرور دورية تابعة للجيش في محيط حي الشراونة – بعلبك، تعرضت لإطلاق نار كثيف من قبل مسلحين، حيث تزامن ذلك مع تعرض مركز تابع للجيش في حي الشراونة ومركز المطربة في بلدة القصر - الهرمل لإطلاق نار مماثل، فردّ الجيش على مصادر النيران، ونتج عن الإشتباك إصابة 4 عسكريين بجروح إصابة أحدهم حرجة وتم تعزيز قوى الجيش في المنطقة لضبط الوضع، وتجري ملاحقة مطلقي النار لتوقيفهم وإحالتهم على القضاء المختص".
