On 15 Aug 16, Civil Defense volunteers held a demonstration in southern Lebanon to pressure the government to implement decrees making them full-time employees. The demonstration took place in the Marjayoun valley near the border, where workers erected a tent. The Civil Defense workers, who came from all across the country, said they decided to protest in the south, so they don’t disrupt public life by blocking roads and burning tires.
