The Internal Security Forces has arrested a suspected murderer in Beirut’s Cola area, the ISF reported in a statement Thursday.

The statement said the suspect confessed to killing another man due to “relationship disagreements with a girl.”

The suspect, identified as A.R., a Syrian man born in 1997, was arrested July 10, the ISF said.

Authorities pursued the suspect after they found the body of a Syrian man identified as Gh.R., born in 1989, inside an abandoned building in Beirut’s Nahr area.

The ISF said he was “in a state of decomposition” and had several bruises and fractures on his face from being beaten with a stone.

According to the statement, investigations had led the ISF’s Information Branch to identify and arrest A.R., who confessed to the crime during interrogation.
