Security forces in the Bekaa raided gas stations across the region in search of smuggled fuel from Syria, the caretaker economy minister told The Daily Star. Earlier in the day, caretaker Minister of State for Combatting Corruption Nicolas Tueni told a local radio station that the Lebanese state is losing around LL500,000,000 ($332,500) per day due to smuggled fuel. He added that smuggling was taking place through illegal border crossings into the Baalbeck-Hermel region.
