Beirut police arrested two suspects over theft charges, authorities said. Detectives from Beirut police unit apprehended two Syrian teens in Ain al-Mreiseh neighborhood in the capital after a theft victim called the police and reported being looted of a silver necklace and bracelet, an Internal Security Forces Statement said.

The youth, identified by their initials as Aa.R., 19, and M.A., 16, had escaped to a nearby building inhabited by Syrian laborers before the agents arrested the two. Police confiscated the stolen necklace and bracelet in addition to mobile phones and other pieces of jewelry from the two teens. A Syrian man also claimed that the two suspects had stopped him on Thursday in the area and searched him, however, they let him leave after they could not find with him anything to be stolen. The two teens were referred to Beirut judicial police for further investigations.
