The source told The Daily Star the child, Qassem Zeaiter, was in stable condition Thursday after he was hospitalized for a gunshot wound to the head.

The bullet had struck the baby before he rested his head on his mother’s shoulder. The mother was also doing well after surgery to remove the bullet.

The father, policeman Mohammad Zeaiter happened to be passing along the Brital neighborhood of Mahmoudieh when the shooting took place. Gunfire was exchanged between two outlaws, with one of them identified as a member of the Tleiss clan.
