Army units deployed in Baalbeck , upon a request from the Baalbeck-Hermel governor to “end the security chaos” in the wake of a shooting that occurred at the local market overnight.

Members of the al-Kayal and Othman families exchanged gunfire Tuesday night at Baalbeck’s local market, after tensions escalated that carried over from previous disputes.

The shootout caused “serious damage” to properties and shops.

Shopkeepers closed for business Wednesday morning for half an hour, protesting the damages incurred.
