Lt. Col. Rabih Kahil of the Lebanese Army Commando Unit died Wednesday as a result of gunshot wounds suffered a day earlier during a fight with villagers, a security source said.Kahil, who belonged to the Army’s Fifth Regiment Intervention Force, was on his way home when he stopped on the outskirts of Bdadoun, a village in the district of Aley, and started yelling at someone over the phone, the source told The Daily Star. Local residents approached him to ask him to lower his voice. He boasted that no one should challenge a strong man like him. Shortly afterward, Hisham Daou, the son of the mayor of the nearby Houmal village, engaged in a verbal dispute with Kahil. Kahil was then shot three times: twice in his legs and once in his groin, according to the source.
