A man was killed and another injured following an argument that escalated into a fistfight in the Koura village of Amioun. “There were two drivers that were allegedly drunk and drifting in the area while playing loud music,” a security source told The Daily Star.

“They were from Akkar and had bothered the locals before, which led to the fight.”

Mohammad Saeed Donnawi, 40, died after receiving a blow to the head, while Ahmad Nafiz Barakat was injured.

Two have been arrested so far by Army Intelligence while four other suspects remain at large.

The Municipality of Meshmesh in Akkar district, where Donnawi and Barakat lived, then issued a statement reaffirming its faith in the security establishment and the judiciary. “The people of Amioun are our brothers ... we hope that the Lebanese state strikes with an iron fist,” the statement added.
