On 11 Sep 16, Sheikh Bassam Al Atras was arrested over suspicions of involvement in a terrorist attack that occurred on August 31 in Ksara however, he was released shortly after. On 06 Oct 16, following the order of the Assistant of the Government's Commissioner at the Military Court, Prosecutor Hani Hajjar, Sheikh Bassam Al Tarras was re-arrested.

Following the arrest, on 07 Oct 16:

An Information Department's unit raided  the house of Sheikh Bassam Tarras, and detained his son Amir for investigation, National News Agency correspondent in Zahle reported on Friday. He was later released.
