أعلنت قيادة الجيش أن "مديرية المخابرات أوقفت الإرهابي حسين أحمد الحجيري المنتمي إلى تنظيم داعش، والمطلوب بعدة مذكرات توقيف، والمتهم بتنفيذ عشرات العمليات الإرهابية بحق مدنيين وعسكريين من بينهم المشاركة في اغتيال المؤهل أول في قوى الأمن الداخلي زاهر عز الدين، بالإضافة إلى دوره الأساسي في نقل الأسلحة للمجموعات الإرهابية، وتجنيد أشخاص ونقلهم للقتال داخل سوريا. وبوشر التحقيق مع الموقوف بإشراف القضاء المختص".
