e Lebanese Army Sunday evening responded to provocations at the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh by shooting in the air.

The Army's response came after two wanted men, Chadi G. and an unidentified person from the Jawhar family, attempted to provoke Army personnel deployed at the Darb al-Sim checkpoint near one of the camp's entrances. Security sources said the dispute resulted from the Army's attempt to check the documents of a Syrian national woman that was accompanying a cigarettes trader identified as Fadel Aa.

Army units present at the scene directly went into full alert and were joined by members of the Fatah Movement in order control the situation.

The Army also closed the Darb al-Sim checkpoint and has contacted the Palestinian leadership in order to address the reasons for the dispute.
