 On 18 May 2017, a personal dispute erupted between members of two families in the northern region of Akkar and escalated into an exchange of fire and roads were closed with burning tires. An army force intervened and staged raids in a bid to arrest the culprits. Internal Security forces opened investigations into the incident.
