A suspect wanted for drugs related charges eportedly opened fire at a Lebanese Army unit that was attempting to arrest him in the Beirut's Raml al-Aali neighborhood, a military statement said.

The Army Intelligence unit was looking to arrest Qassem Khaddouj and who is wanted on drugs charges and taking part in several shootouts.

During the raid, the suspect fired at the military patrol, prompting the members to respond to the source of fire, hitting [Khaddouj] and leaving him with injuries in the leg and left hand," the statement said.

Weapons, ammunition, surveillance cameras, DVRs and an assortment of drugs were found when his house was searched.

The Army added that he was transferred to the hospital for treatment.
