Lebanese Army Intelligence has arrested the suspected murderer of Mohammad Zaher, a Lebanese national killed Wednesday evening during a dispute over the World Cup, according to an Army statement.
The statement, released Thursday afternoon, identified the suspect as Hussein Khodr Braytea.
Zaher was reportedly killed with a knife by two of his neighbors in Hay al-Sellom in Beirut's southern suburbs, local media outlet LBCI reported. However, the Army did not mention another suspect in its investigation.
The dispute reportedly arose after Germany's loss to South Korea and the team's subsequent exit from the World Cup.
