A driver sped through a Lebanese Army checkpoint at the entrance of Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp near Sidon and entered the camp.
The driver of the Mercedes, owned by a 23-year-old, did not stop at the Army checkpoint at the camp’s entrance and refused to comply with the requests of an Army official. The car sped through the checkpoint, going over the spiked stinger designed to stop cars passing unchecked, puncturing the car’s tires.
The army contacted Palestinian authorities inside the Ain al-Hilweh as the car proceeded into the camp for them to pursue the suspect. The man was later arrested and handed over to Army custody.
