Posters and banners of Lebanon’s newly-elected President Michel Aoun were set on fire overnight in the southern city of Sidon.

The torching of the banners on the Shammah highway, east of Sidon, partially destroyed the portraits.

Insulting the president is a criminal offense in Lebanon. Security forces have opened an investigation into the incident.
