NNA - Customs department at Beirut Rafic Hariri International airport foiled on Saturday a drug smuggling operation into Lebanon, National News Agency correspondent reported.

The field correspondent pointed out that the drugs were packaged in a creative way as they were imbued into clothes.

The reporter explained that the passenger D.A.B born in 1982 of Bulgarian nationality coming from Brazil via Addis Ababa had the clothes in the two suitcases which he was carrying imbued with drugs. The amount of drugs was estimated to weigh 40 kg and of about L.L. 200 million while its market value is much more.

Upon the notice of the Cassation Prosecution in Mount- Lebanon, the arrested passenger was transferred with the smuggled stuff to the Central Drug Fighting department in Beirut to continue investigations with him.

This operation which the Passengers' and Free Zone department at Beirut airport customs foiled today is one of the most important smuggling methods created by smugglers, the reporter said.
