A day after a married couple was found murdered in their home in the Bint Jbeil town of Ainata, the Internal Security Forces announced Thursday it arrested the couple’s nephew for allegedly committing the killings.
The man, a Syrian national identified as Aa.H., was arrested in Baalbeck's Sireen al-Fawqa and reportedly confessed to the murder, a statement from the ISF reported.
Aa.H said he went to his aunt's house on June 25 to ask for a sum of money, but after they refused him, he allegedly killed them by suffocating them, beating their heads and cutting their wrists open. He stole their gold jewelry and fled the scene.
The ISF said it seized all the stolen items.
But a security source previously told The Daily Star that a total of four suspects had been arrested in connection with the murders - all of them relatives of the victims. The source said the suspects visited the couple at their home for coffee and food before killing them and fleeing with jewelry and nearly LL1.5 million in cash.
