Activists protested and held mock elections in Downtown Beirut to denounce the postponement of Parliamentary elections.

A Parliament for the Whole Country gathered in Beirut Souks where ballots were symbolically cast to decry the stalemate in endorsing a new electoral law and holding parliamentary elections.

The move, part of weekly activities, comes in support “of holding parliamentary elections as soon as possible on the basis of citizenship.”

Ballots had slots to say yes or no for the extension of terms or the “choice of citizenship,” which they define as proportionality, large electoral constituencies and equality among the Lebanese.

“Extension (of terms) won’t pass,” one banner read.
