Activists Friday set up tents in Downtown Beirut’s Riad al-Solh Square ahead of a planned protest against the government’s failure to resolve the nearly seven-month-long garbage crisis. Members of the We Want Accountability and For the Republic groups called on all Lebanese to participate in Saturday’s protests. “The government did not create a real plan to resolve the trash crisis. We want a plan that is free of corruption,” activist lawyer Wassef Harakeh told Al-Jadeed TV. Activists were referring to the recent trash export scheme which they believe is illegal. Harakeh said he was not against the principle of trash export, but against the secretive manner in which Lebanon's export plan was approved. http://dailystar.com.lb/News/Lebanon-News/2016/Feb-05/335911-activists-c...
