An activist went on a hunger strike Wednesday to protest the Ministry of Social Affairs’s failure to investigate allegations of sexual abuse at an orphanage south of Beirut, local media reported.

Tarek al-Mallah said the hunger strike's aim is to urge the ministry to open an investigation around a case involving an 11-year-old who was allegedly raped in Dar al-Aytam's southern Beirut suburb of Ouzai branch.
