The Internal Security Forces have arrested three men in connection with an attack and subsequent shooting in Sidon Thursday, a security source told The Daily Star.

The incident took place in front of the residence and offices of Sheikh Maher Hammoud, the head of the Union of Resistance Scholars. When an ISF officer on patrol stationed himself in front of the residence and offices of Hammoud, a man asked him to leave, but the officer refused. The man proceeded to hit the officer, take his weapon and escape into a building. The officer then called for ISF backup, which surrounded and entered the building. Shots were subsequently fired, though their source was unclear.

Following the incident, the ISF's Information Branch arrested two of Sheikh Maher Hammoud's guards and a third man, who are suspected of having been involved. The guards were arrested Friday and have been identified as Mohammad B. and Mahmoud F. Their arrests come after Hammoud handed over the third suspect following the incident Thursday, whom the security source identified as Palestinian national Iyad J.

This security incident was mapped according to the closest possible location.
