أعلنت قيادة الجيش اللبناني في بيان أنه "بتاريخه حوالي الساعة 4.00، رصدت قوى الجيش في جرد بلدة الصويري – البقاع، نحو 200 شخص من التابعية السورية في أثناء محاولتهم الدخول خلسة إلى الأراضي اللبنانية. وقد بادرت مجموعة من المهرِّبين إلى إطلاق النار باتجاه قوى الجيش والأشخاص المهرَّبة، ما أدى إلى وفاة امرأة وإصابة أربعة أشخاص بجروح جميعهم من التابعية المذكورة، نقلوا على أثرها إلى أحد مستشفيات المنطقة للمعالجة. وقد ردت قوى الجيش بالمثل على مطلقي النار، كما أوقفت عدداً كبيراً من المجموعة المهرَّبة"، مشيرة الى أن "قوى الجيش تستمر بتعقّب مطلقي النار، فيما تمّ تسليم الموقوفين إلى المرجع المختص لإجراء اللازم".
