A 19-year-old man was found dead from stab wounds in unclear circumstances Tuesday evening in the Tripoli town of Qibbeh, a security source told The Daily Star.

The source said the young man, identified as A.T.H., from the Akkar town of Halba, had been at his grandparents’ house in Qibbeh before going out, telling them he was going to a local festival. The source said that initial investigations indicated that A.T.H. may have stabbed himself on the street near a local cafe in the nearby Malouleh neighborhood.

However the state-run National News Agency reported that the young man “died of wounds after unknown men attacked him and stabbed him” multiple times in Malouleh.

The security source said surveillance camera footage from the area was being reviewed.
