علنت المديرية العامة لقوى الأمن الداخلي في بيان أنه "ضمن إطار المتابعة المستمرة التي تقوم بها شعبة المعلومات على جميع الأراضي اللبنانية، لملاحقة تجار ومروجي المخدرات وإلقاء القبض عليهم، والتي أفضت إلى توقيف عدد كبير من المتورطين بهذه الجرائم. وبعد توافر معلومات عن تورّط أحد الأشخاص في عمليات نقل مخدرات من البقاع الى بيروت وتوزيعها على المروجين لصالح أحد التجار، ونتيجةًللاستقصاءات والتحريات التي قامت بها قطعات الشعبة، تمكنت من تحديد هويته، ويدعى: ر. ف. (مواليد عام 1973، لبناني)".
