Veterans protest as Cabinet holds 9th session on budget
Dozens of retired military personnel protested proposed public sector funding cuts Friday morning, as the Cabinet ministers met for a ninth session devoted to the 2019 draft austerity budget.
Chanting "they are all thieves," the veterans burned tires in the middle of Riad al-Solh Square. They told reporters the smell would be more likely than their voices to reach the ministers.
