عمد بعض الشبان إلى قطع عدد من الطرق الرئيسية والفرعية المؤدّية إلى سوق بعلبك التجاري ومحيط قلعة بعلبك، بالحجارة والعوائق الحديدية، احتجاجًا على مقتل الشاب "جمال. ش" بطلق ناري جراء خلاف فردي في بعلبك.
وباشر الجيش اللبناني فتح الطرق ومنع المحتجين من القيام بأعمال تخريبية.
وكان قد قُتل الشاب إثر إصابته بطلق ناري في عنقه، نتيجة خلاف فردي بينه وبين عدد من الشبان بالقرب من قلعة بعلبك الاثرية. وعلى الفور تدخّلت القوى الأمنية وأوقفت عددًا من المتورّطين في الحادثة، من بينهم مطلق النار.
