Two public hospitals close in salary protest
Employees at government-run hospitals in Kesrouan and Baalbeck announced the closure of their facilities to all patients, in an escalation of an ongoing protest over delayed wage hikes.
Kesrouan hospital employees said the “complete and comprehensive” closure would remain until they received a salary raise in line with the salary scale law passed by Parliament in 2017.
The Fattouh Kesrouan Government Hospital in Buwar made the announcement one day after public hospital employees protesting outside Baabda Palace announced plans to close facilities across the country.
Employees at the Baalbeck Government Hospital announced the continuation of their strike. They were standing in solidarity with a nurse who was injured during Wednesday’s Baabda protest
