Three women and a man were injured Friday after a van drove into a protest in Tripoli’s al-Nour Square held in demand of general amnesty for Islamist prisoners, the state-run National News Agency reported.

Security forces and dozens of residents were seen running after the vehicle in a video posted online by local Facebook news page Tripoli News Network. A person’s screams could be heard in the distance.

The Daily Star could not independently verify the authenticity of the video.

Tripoli News Network reported that the driver "bumped" into a woman while trying to pass through the roadblock "by force," inflicting injuries.

According to NNA, the incident inflicted “leg injuries” on the four protesters.

The van's driver was arrested "within minutes,” Tripoli News Network wrote, sharing a video that purported to capture the chase from what appeared to be a balcony of a nearby building.

The protesters, reportedly consisting mostly of women, were part of a demonstration led by family members of Islamist prisoners demanding a general amnesty for their incarcerated relatives.

This security incident was mapped according to the closest possible location.
